Pacific bluewater anglers have a stacked Friday afternoon ahead, with GZ Lures - the Hawaii-leaning online retailer run by 'Gold Geezer' Greg - dropping one of its bigger marlin lure releases of the year on 15 May 2026 at 4 p.m. Eastern, 10 a.m. Hawaii.
The video preview, released a few days ahead of the drop, walks through what is hitting the website and what has been pulling fish offshore. The headline this week is the return of two Aloha Lures patterns that have been hard to find for years, alongside a fresh colour run on the Marlin Magic Ruckus and a batch of new Moyes Lures bullets with hair skirts.
The Aloha highlight is the Magic Mullet, brought back in both its 9-inch and 12-inch forms after a long absence from the catalogue. The bigger version was a staple of bluewater specialist Chris Donato's lure spread for years before it disappeared.
"This is the large one, the 12-in version. We use 12-in TTS strobes for those," the host said of the bigger Magic Mullet, before flagging the 9-inch as a versatile meat-fish lure: "You catch anything with that. But billfish, including billfish and tuna and that kind of stuff."
The Aloha drop also includes a Smash Bait restock in mirrored and dichroic patterns, plus a fresh run of Bambucha lures - one of the brand's bestsellers when GZ can keep them on the shelf.
"This has been a really popular color pattern with the gold shell black back yellowfin firetails," he said, before running through Blue Dream, skipjack, olive wahoo, petrolero and Kona Classic finishes. GZ confirmed it has been working to keep the Ruckus, especially its most-requested colour patterns, on the website more reliably than in past years.
The biggest new product of the drop sits in the Moyes range. The Australian-made Moyes bullets have been built for years without skirting hair, but the maker has now released a small Shotgun and a small Secret with hair worked into the skirts. Both are entirely new for the GZ catalogue.
"They've been doing incredibly well in especially in Costa Rica I think it was and I saw a bunch of pictures that Annie was sending me," the host said, referring to the hair-skirt Poons that have been finding fish in Central America. The new small Shotgun (a cup-nose hard-head) and small Secret (a cupped-face) join the Ono bullets in medium and small, also restocked.
Bonze Lures get a small Australian-built injection too, with the Here For The Party and the Punisher dropping alongside the Moyes batch. The host pointed buyers back to a much larger Bonze restock the previous week for the broadest colour selection.
The drop is rounded out by a small batch of Sutomu lures - Milk Inverts in custom colours including a pattern matched to GZ's Blue Ocean skirt 199 - plus a refresh of the in-house D-Flat range in baby and medium sizes, with new purple paint and ice blue offset blunt cuts and scoops. The D-Flats can also be ordered as part of squid chains direct from the GZ site.
For offshore anglers planning their winter Pacific season, the May 15 drop is one of the better-stocked weeks GZ has run in the marlin lure category in recent months, with returning classics, restocked best-sellers and two brand-new hair-skirt Moyes shapes all hitting the shelves at the same time.
