Long-running YouTube fishing duo Phil and Andy have rolled the curtain back on their 2026 Fishing Adventure series, and the opening episode lays out the year's game plan from one of Phil's favourite estuary spots on the Sunshine Coast.
The trailer-style first video, published on 12 May 2026, opens with Phil welcoming returning subscribers and flagging that the look and feel of the channel will change this year. "There'll be a lot of changes in this episodes too. The music will be different. We're doing a lot of alterations in the videos," he said, before handing off to his partner Andy for the fishing plan.
Andy framed the year with a familiar Sunshine Coast itinerary. The pair are heading out on a boat trip in roughly two weeks, with stops planned at Chambers Island and a possible run up the Maroochy River, slightly further south than their usual range. He also confirmed the tailor missions that produced two of the channel's best episodes in 2025 are back on the schedule.
"We'll obviously we'll try and get some tailor again because we had two great trips last year. One in Tin Can Bay and one up the beach, Teewah Beach I think it was. And so we'll try that again maybe in September."
The rest of the episode rolls into a session at Dun Ethan, the spot Phil described on camera as a beautiful area and his favourite spot. The action came in waves at the bridge the pair call the Cod Hole - a small estuary structure that has been a season-opener fixture for the channel.
"Finally, after another good sessions of fishing this year, we've never had any. Rigs are looking up. We're early in the day. We just started. We bought one finally on board," Phil said as the first bream came over the side.
The Cod Hole then lived up to its name on the third cast under the bridge, producing the small cod that gives the structure its name.
"Look at that. It's a little cod. And that's why they call it the cod hole," Phil said, holding the undersized fish up for the camera before sending it back.
A second bream came shortly after, with the camera catching the rod loading down before Andy lifted the fish clear. The keeper of the session came right at the close - a flathead that pushed the tape to a good size.
"Mr Flatty. We're doing well again. We got flathead to finish off again in the cod hole. So the Cod Hole bridge has been the winner today by miles," Phil said as he laid the fish out for the measure.
The flatty came in at exactly 42 centimetres - a quality keeper from a session that the pair admitted had cost them "the odd hooks and sinker" along the way.
For returning viewers, the takeaway from episode one is straightforward: Phil and Andy are back on the water, the routine is intact, and the 2026 calendar will include a Sunshine Coast boat trip in late May, a Maroochy River run, and a return to Teewah Beach for tailor in September. The Cod Hole bridge, as ever, is the first cab off the rank.
Andy's sign-off was as direct as the rest of the episode. "We had one good one. So we're having a much better day today catching fish wise, but we're still after the bigger ones, but it's still a little improvement what we're getting. Better than not getting anything at all."
