Hawaii-based retailer GZ Lures has dropped its 17 April 2026 restock ahead of the main Pacific and Tasman billfish seasons, with an expanded Bonze range, two top-selling Moyes shapes, the store's first Amaral lures of the year and a long-awaited BKK circle hook expansion.
On Bonze, a fresh Ballistic — a 12-inch Power Shell signature-series lure on a 602 skirt size — leads the restock. Cole from GZ highlighted the smaller Jackhammer as a compact alternative to Bonze's well-known Violator, alongside the rounded-face ATM that has grown steadily over the last two seasons. Cupfaces do the heavy lifting in the refresh, with Islander, Viper, Apache slant-nose and Trojan shapes all represented.
"We're big fans of cupface lures because of their ease of use and that they work great in all conditions," Cole said. "So, it's a great rigger bait." A small DLB batch in flash and strobe colours sits alongside a handful of scratched stock sold down from retail price. Customer-order customs remain light, with the signature-series Power Shell stock making up the bulk of availability. "It's about half and half," he said.
Coggins appears in a single shape this week — the nine-inch Kilauea scoop-and-invert, named after the Big Island volcano. Moyes returns with two of its consistent top sellers: the medium J Boy and medium plunger, both in a dark-heavy colour run. "That medium J Boy has been our number one," Cole said, noting the only year it was beaten was by a run of Ono Bullets with hair skirts.
The Marlin Magic selection leans into blues for the week — a 12-inch Big Blue, small plungers, mahi-series smalls and teardrop AP heads in pink-over-white and white-over-pink. Skirted Tiny Blues are flagged for next week. Cole also pushed the jumbo AP Teardrop Jet range, which he said Tasmanian angler Marlon Parker and others have produced heavily on in recent seasons.
Amaral's first 2026 drop includes the Super Jararaca at 14 inches, the new seven-inch Arutu, the baby series and the 12-inch Jararaca — the single top-selling lure from the Brazilian maker. "As far as top-selling lures go from Amaral, this is number one or number two for us," Cole said. He noted that Amaral's 'Hula' skirts — thin strands glued on rather than tied — run lighter than standard rubber skirts, a feature Cole said suits calmer Kona conditions especially.
On terminal tackle, GZ has added AFW copper rigging wire, bait springs (10- and 100-packs) and Ringer swivels from size one through five, including pre-rigged swivel-and-wire combos in both standard and red-coated copper. The most meaningful change is on the hook wall. After years of stocking only Fudo Gordo HD circles, GZ has added four BKK styles: the Monster Circle, the Monster Circle drifting special (6, 8 and 10), the Haku livebait J-hook and the Competition and Inline Heavy circles. Islander lures and further Bonze stock are flagged for the next fortnight.
