Jayco Australia is once again charging forward with its new Class A RV strategy, showcasing their latest models, the Vision SE and Vision XL. Both models are part of Jayco's initiative to navigate a challenging market landscape while delivering quality and affordability to RV enthusiasts.
The Class A RV market has faced various economic hurdles recently, yet Jayco is adapting with exciting new offerings. It has experienced notable success in the low-end Class A and C segments, with models like the Vision SE meeting a previously untapped price point.
Cory Weatherton, Jayco's director of product development, stated, "We developed the Vision SE to try to get to a price point that is nonexistent, post-COVID-19, simply because chassis prices keep increasing." The Vision SE is designed to stand out in a market where keeping low production costs is crucial, especially given the challenges associated with obtaining chassis from manufacturers.
With reports of the Ford F-53 chassis plant significantly cutting back production, Jayco has had to stay agile. Weatherton noted, "Chassis can be found, and the Vision SE has sold well, but it's a tough market for every manufacturer." He highlighted that from a business perspective, "for the bulk of our builds, our better margins are in the higher end versus the lower end, so we were building a lot of painted Visions, painted Vision XL — those are options."
In addition to pricing, the fluctuating costs of materials such as aluminum and steel have posed their own challenges. To manage these costs, Jayco has strategically shifted to U.S. manufacturers or sourced from countries with lower tariffs. Weatherton confirmed the company's commitment to efficiency, stating, "Our purchasing team is doing a good job in identifying the country of origin so that we can try to address that."
And that's not all—Jayco has created buzz in the industry with its soon-to-launch Embark EV. This model, as part of Jayco's innovative push, offers a glimpse into the future of electric RVs. The Embark EV will feature a range extender that is more than just a hybrid model; it's an electric motorhome with lithium battery technology designed for adventure.
Weatherton explained how the Embark functions, stating, "The range extender is a gas-powered generator...you are going to get about a 105-mile range when you put it in what most folks would understand as a hybrid mode...but it is different; the generator is constantly, slowly charging the lithium battery."
Anticipation is building as Jayco prepares to launch the Embark EV in the first quarter of 2026, initially for the Tourism Holdings Limited (THL) in New Zealand. After a year of customer testing, plans are in place for a retail release in the third quarter of 2027. Jayco’s parent company, THOR Industries, elevates Jayco's product development capabilities by providing access to their U.S. innovation lab.
With an eye towards future advancements, Jayco continues to focus on bringing its customers RVs that not only meet evolving needs but also deliver remarkable experiences. Whether you are eyeing the affordable Vision SE or excited about the groundbreaking Embark EV, Jayco is set to redefine what adventurous road travel looks like.
